What is Kumon?
The Kumon learning method was founded in 1954 by Toru Kumon, who taught high school math in Japan for more than 20 years.  While his son struggled with elementary mathematics, he created some worksheets to help him master basic concepts, supplementing traditional text books that were unable to keep his son's attention.  Through self-study and independent learning, his son's confidence grew and within the year, he  exceeded grade level expectations, progressing through daily worksheets towards eventual mastery of advanced mathematics.  Soon, after noticing his son's amazing advancement, many local parents persuaded Mr. Kumon to allow their children to use his worksheets.  Word spread, and less than a year later, the first Kumon center opened, followed by explosive growth.

The Kumon method is now the largest private supplemental education program in the world and is widely practiced in more than 45 countries around the world, with over 3 million students currently enrolled worldwide.  Individualized programs are available for ages 2 1/2 through adult at remedial, average, advanced, and learning-challenged skill levels...in other words, everyone!
